We are thinking that APPLE is Riley's first real word aside from the usual mamama, dadada, no and dah and bop. The only sucky thing is that he only said it one time. Actually, I take that back then...I think BODY SLAM was his first real word. He said that clear as day about a month ago and hasnt said it since. Now he said apple, but hasnt said that since either. I am thinking Riley is a one word kind of guy. Hmmm. Whatever that means...
So Riley is doing great. Growing up so fast. Seriously, in the last 2 days he has hit 3 big milestones...walking backwards, blowing his nose and taking tissues and wrappers and throwing them in the trash can...without being asked. Yesterday he was in the office with me and I had thrown a Tootsie Roll wrapper in the shredder. He took the wrapper out and left the room...so I followed him to make sure he wasnt gonna eat it and he walked to the kitchen trash can and threw it away. I couldnt believe it. It was crazy. And here I was about to yell "NO" when he got to the trash due to his hx of loving to dumpster dive and pull out nasty old apple cores etc.
He is definitely turning into an amazing little sponge and is extremely close to being able to drive. hahaha. Kidding of course.
All else is well. Turns out our crazy busy schedules have taken a toll on the boys. Both were sick this weekend with the sniffles so we sat on our butts the WHOLE dang weekend. It was nice, but weird. We havent been home for more than 2 hours at a time most weekends if at home at all. So it was a nice change of pace. Plus I got to have Cheetah night last night and saw a double feature of horror movies. What more could I ask for...hahaha.
Ya, I said Cheetah night. Ask Nick about Panther night sometime. It is hilarious. Well, not so hilarious for Loki. He got a DUI after a Panther all nighter.
Ya, I said Loki got a DUI.
Well, its time for bed...just wanted to check in and try to post some pics this time.
We hope everyone is doing awesome! Yay for football season and Fall season. I cant wait to dress Riley in his little jeans and sweatshirts. I LOVE baby clothes!!! hahahaha!

I'm pretty much an adult now...
Riley told me he was bored of the last blog and wanted something new and fresh! SO...here it is. Riley's new blog :)
The biggest news this summer is that: Riley is 1!!! YaaAAYYyy!
His first birthday party went off without a hitch. Thanks for coming everyone! We had a blast and were so glad you all could make it!! Riley loves all his gifts and had a great time in the pool with all the kids. He had NO clue what was going on with the dino dig or pinata, but it looked like he enjoyed watching everyone else :) So thanks again everyone!!!!
So...we are still trying to recover from his birthday party, Kansas and just the summer in general. It seems like we have something to do every minute these days. Which is awesome, but the fact that it is August already, is crazy. We havent even had a chance to go surfing yet...BOOOOO!
The great news though is that Riley is developing so much, so fast. He is walking everywhere now. His new favorite things are to play with his refrigerator magnets and when we open the fridge, he likes to pull the fruit drawer open, pull out and apple and carry it around pretty much all day or night taking little baby bites every few minutes. We have to wash it about every 5 minutes since he tends to drop it in random places around the house. YuuuMMMyy! He is also copying EVERYTHING we do!!!
He loves following mommy and daddy everywhere and carrying our house phone (which is now his phone since its dead) around the house, holding it up to his ear and saying "A doh. A doh!" He has his own language and it seems like we can understand some things he is saying, but most of it is still gibberish. Its real cute cause you can tell he tries to copy some of the stuff we say, but cant quite get it. No more swearing for mom and dad anymore. Crap!!!
Ummm, he is sleeping like a champ. 11 to 12 hours a night. THANK GOODNESS for that!! Yay! Now if his dumb parents could just go to bed before 11:30pm we might actually get some good sleep too :)
Lets see...what else...Riley is loving his daycare which is a relief. They are teaching him sign language which we will totally take credit for. Hahahaha. Kidding. It was funny...about 2 months ago we went to SF and while I was in the backseat with him he was doing like 3 different signs. I had NO idea what the heck he was doing so when we got home I had to look up signs on the internet. When I asked his daycare lady if she was teaching him sign language she said "O no, are we not supposed to?" Apparently since its summer, our daycare lady's 12 yrd old daughter has been home from school and was bored, so started teaching the kids sign language. AWESOME!!! And I was feeling like a bad parent for not teaching it...wait, maybe that still makes me a bad parent...hmmmm.
Lots of firsts this summer...first birthday, 1st trip to Kansas, 1st trip to Zoo, 1st time swimming, 1st 4th of July, 1st time facing forward in his car seat...and lots of others I think.
K, I think that is it for now. Ohh, at his one year checkup Dr. said he is doing great. 59th precentile for weight and 80th for height. YAYYAYYYAYYY for a tall baby!!!
Pictures to follow of course....HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
